Till a year ago, I used to find the word ‘hahaha’ rude, because I never pictured people laughing like Santa each time I said something remotely funny – ‘Ha Ha Ha’ (or Ho Ho Ho, same thing).
‘Hehehe’ on the other hand sounded more like laughter, and less offensive.
However, I now use both words in conversation, but LOL, never!
I find the word LOL, and all the other stupid words like ROFL, LMAO, etc. downright rude. Am I the only one?
LOL is the acronym for ‘Laugh Out Loud’, but when I say something hilarious and someone responds with ‘LOL’, I don’t find it very flattering.
It sounds more like an irritable teenager telling me ‘that wasn’t really funny, but I’m bored and I’ll use this stupid acronym to show how fake thrilled I am’.
I, on the other hand, use the word ‘LOL’ only when I’m angry or irritated, or if someone makes fun of me and I don’t find it amusing.
So if I use the word ‘LOL’ when I’m having a conversation with you, know that I’m pissed!
